Havana, Cuba, Dec 17.- Camagüey’s Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz University will be the headquarters today of the celebrations for the 92nd anniversary of the Federation of University Students (FEU by its Spanish acronym), Juventud Rebelde newspaper reported today.
In this center , as in the rest of those of higher education in the country, the celebration is dedicated to strengthening the participation of university students in the materialization, dissemination and control of the agreements reached on their 8th Congress.
Rosana Fernández Verdecia, a member of the National Secretariat of the organization, said that they have been developing several initiatives for the date, including the Festival of Felix Varela Class at each facility.
As part of the celebration, recognition will be given to comprehensive vanguard students and others who highlighted in the provinces, and community actions will be developed in connection with the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution and the Federation of Cuban Women.
Alma Mater, Gold Chalk and A Future Teacher Awards will be granted on the Educator Day, which will stimulate teachers, principals, and supporting staff who contribute to the work of FEU, as well as to assistant students and members of Frank País García Assistant Students Movement.
Camagüey was chosen as headquarters for the celebration by its role in the integration of universities and satisfactory results in major processes, activities and movements of the organization, Rosana Fernández Verdecia said.
Cuban singer Raul Paz will give tonight a concert at Camagüey’s university as colophon to this student party.(ACN)
