Camagüey to Mark Cuban Science Day

Camaguey, Dec 17. – An examination of the research works, innovation and technological services in business entities of Camaguey province are some of the activities included in the agenda for the Cuban Science Day to be held on January 15.

The evaluation will be done in the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology as well as in units belonging to the ministries of Agriculture, Public Health, Higher Education, and Science, Technology and Environment.

They will analyze the production of food as well as the public health programs, the vaccines for human and animal use, the meteorology and the peaceful use of nuclear technology, knowledgeable sources told AIN.

The activities marking the Cuban Science Day, whose provincial ceremony will be held on January 13th, will include an encounter to define research tasks related to countrywide programs.

As part of the activities, the most outstanding researchers will be awarded by CITMA and the most important food producers will share experiences and practices.

Among the main missions that CITMA runs in Camaguey province are tackling climate change and getting new varieties of sugarcane.

The Science Day is observed in Cuba as a remembrance of Fidel Castro’s speech on January 15th, 1960 outlined the basis of the policy for the scientific development of the nation.
