Four Sugarcane Mills Are in Operation in Camagüey

Camagüey, Dec 16. – Smoothly and ahead of schedule, the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes mill joined the sugarcane harvest in Camagüey province.

During the whole season, this cane processing factory -one of best in Cuba cogenerating electricity- should produce more than 37,000 metric tons of raw sugar, thanks to the wagonloads of sugarcane coming from mills  Argentina and Ignacio Agramonte.

Mercedes Jacob Cabrera, an analysis expert at the Camaguey Sugar Company, said that the sugar production is at 80 % in this province, being Siboney mill, in the municipality of Sibanicú, the most outstanding of all.

In addition, the province reaches a yield of 98 percent and the norm has been reached at 67 percent, Siboney mill has also played here a crucial role.

Now that the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes sugar cane processing factory has joined the milling, the total of industrial facilities taking part in the 2014-2015 sugarcane harvest are four, whereas a fifth (Brazil mill) must join the province’s endeavors very soon.
