Camaguey, Dec 14.- In order to produce over 7,500 metric tons of pork, the amount that has been planned for next year, the Pig Production Group in Camagüey province acknowledged the efforts of its best workers and premises.
The ceremony took place on Sunday and the awards were delivered by Jorge Luís Tapia Fonseca, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in this province, and Isabel González Cárdenas, head of the provincial government.
The municipality which stood out most comprehensively in this business was Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, whereas Florida was chosen best municipality in fattening its own animals.
Such efforts together with those done in other municipalities made possible to meet Camagüey’s obligations as envisaged in the plan, a task that had remained unfinished for six years. So, before the year ends the province would have deliver an additional amount of 1,100 metric tons of meat compared to 2013.
According to these results, general manager of Empresa Porcina in Cuba Norberto Espinosa urged local pig farmers to move forward in fulfilling their production potentials, one of the biggest in Cuba in the past. (Pedro Paneque Ruiz/Radio Cadena Agramonte).
